Another Comedy for you, didn't really know to much about this film before i watched it or heard to much about any of the Actors who star in it but decided to give it a watch as i'm pretty much on a roll at the minute with the Comedy/Drama movies. The story in based around a guy called Thom who is making money by being an illegal Cab Driver around New York and Claire a woman who hires him to take her across America to California to see her Father who has recently suffered a heart attack ( Sam & Amber Jaeger the Actors who play Thom and Claire and also wrote and directed the movie are married in real life which i didn't know til after i watched the film )
The story of the film was really simple but it was compelling and by that i mean it wasn't edge of your seat compelling or anything like that it was just filled with interesting scenes that were at times Funny and other times sad, the film all the way through was a mixed bag when it came to Drama and Comedy, i was glad there wasn't much romance in the film though sometimes these sort of films can overdue it, The start of the film was really well done with Thom being kicked out his Apartment because he couldn't afford the rent and then driving towards New York City where by chance he picked up Claire straight after she had been told the news about her Dad and on top of that she was convinced her husband was having an affair with one of his work partners and after that the whole film is just basically a massive car Journey and two people getting to know each other and opening up to each other about their life after not knowing each other or even liking each other at the start of the Journey it's great watching the Chemistry and Relationship between the two lead characters change so much throughout the course of the movie and i love how the film didn't rely on over the top jokes or the usual badly done rushed romantic scenes we see to much of these days.
For a low budget and relatively unknown film the writing acting and the production was top class and puts some of Hollywood's top stuff to shame and it's no surprise it's cleaned up every single award it has been nominated for. i will definitely be looking out for more of Sam Jaeger's work in the future now.
Positives - It's good to see a real life Husband and Wife Acting partnership work so well on screen, the music was great, the scenery and settings of the movie were incredible, it was a great gripping and funny journey that had a fantastic ending to finish it off
Negatives - didn't really have any big moment scenes that you remember like most great movies
